Found out yesterday that my brother, who is an actual astrophysicist, was sold a 2008 smart for two for the princely sum of $1 USD.

Now I will bug him incessantly about it, since he hasn't owned a car in years.

My wife’s grandparents have a 2015 Smart that was intended to be a Car2Go rental but was never put into service. They love it.

Not passing judgment against non-astrophysicists, it’s just that when I tell people that, they either A) think I’m kidding and just attempting to say that he’s a smart guy, or B) look me up and down and think “yeah right, from the same gene poo l as you? ”

Those ones are especially interesting. They’re basically pures (two spoke steering wheel, steel wheels, solid roof, black bumpers ) with some passion upgrades (leather seats, premium radio, A/C, black interior colour) and no glovebox.

The car in the first picture is actually a 2011 or 2012 pure. New panel colour, but bumpers are still the old style (new style had a couple more creases and a “Hoover vacuum ” grille up front). :)

A passion from 2008 means a clear roof (or convertible), an interior in a colour other than gray, alloy wheels, a radio (pures back then didn’t even have a radio lol) , A/C, power windows/mirrors, and a flurry of available options.

A friend of his was moving out of the country. That’s all I know.

He only paid a dollar for it because he refused to take it as a gift, but I guess him taking it off their hands was doing them a  favor.

I can also help in finding and delivering a smart. :) I recommend any year but 2008 and 2009. Those were the most problem-prone years and still have unresolved issues even though a lot of them are ten years old with over 100k.
